Odysseus Difficult Decisions In Homer's The Odyssey

In the epic “The Odyssey” by Homer Odysseus has several challenges to overcome to back back home. I can relate because I have difficult decisions to make. Odysseus and I are alike because we both have challenges to get through. Odysseus was trying to get back home but I am trying to play college baseball. They both come with difficult decisions which every part of life does too.

Like I said I plan to play college baseball at Maple Woods. Unlike Odysseus taking 10 years to get home Maple Woods would take 2 years. “For ten years on the sea, to find his way home to his family on Ithaca.”(1.19-20) Mental toughness is what will keep me going and is what kept Odysseus going. Even after getting knocked down he kept getting up and that is how I need to be. Injury is also a factor I could face. I can't lay down and quit because then I will get weaker and might not be able to play baseball again.

In baseball the wind could turn a pop fly into a double. Like Odysseus the wind god pushed their ships closer but the bad wind took them in a different direction.
