He supports his claim by first listing countries that have given rights to apes and all kinds of monkey’s, then putting quotes in from other scientists saying “‘All creatures that can feel pain should have a basic moral status’”, then names scientists that agree with the statement that apes should have rights. Yong’s purpose is to explain that monkey’s and apes should have rights in order to accomplish the goal of apes getting rights. he establishes an informative tone for the readers of the article.
