Organic Foods Start To Prove It's Worth

At the grocery store there is typically a section full of organic foods. All this means is that it is within the guidelines of the U.S. Department of Agriculture; meaning synthetic fertilizers or growth hormones aren’t used on the plants or animals. Yet, that doesn’t mean that the organic food is healthier or that the cost is justified. Many people are under the assumption that that the organic food is healthier and more nutritious. A study made in 2012 believes otherwise. An article titled,”Organic Foods Start to Prove It’s Worth” states that the 2012 study,”...found no real difference between organic and conventional food in terms of nutrition…”(Cernansky). A later study in 2014 showed that not only are both mainly equal in nutrition, but some nutrients were higher in the conventional food. Charles Benbrook from that study was quoted in ”Organic Foods Start to Prove It’s Worth” for saying,”’... some nutrients, organic might be higher. Now, considering there is no difference in nutrition, how can that price still be justified? A market research firm called Mintel released a study on just that, is the price justified. Stated in an article called “Is Organic Food Worth the Higher Price? Many Experts Say No” the study finds that,”about half of all consumers think labeling something organic is just an excuse to charge more”(Lazarus). Some people don't even think organic food is organic. In that same study used in “Is Organic Food Worth the Higher Price?
