In the play, “Othello” by William Shakespeare, the character of Brabantio, has a significant line that foreshadows an event, triggered by the meaning of his words."Look to her, Moor, if thou hast eyes to see. She has deceived her father, and may thee" (Othello I, iii, 293-294; 783). In other words, Brabantio who is the father of Desdemona, tells Othello that his daughter might betray him, the same way she betrayed her own father for marrying him. At first, Othello does not seem to worry about the meaning of those words, but decides to give them attention, when Iago uses them to convince him about the possibility, that Desdemona is cheating on him. Othello thinks about those words as a constant reminder that Desdemona might betray him. The power of those words along with lies lead Othello into killing Desdemona. In a way, Brabantio caused the death of his own daughter without realizing it. Therefore, this quote dramatically affects the character of Desdemona. One of those fools is Rodrigo, who faithfully follows Iago's words. In reality, Rodrigo is manipulated into giving all his money to Iago, with promises of receiving the help he needs to win Desdemona. He is a foolish man that is easily persuaded into following bad ideas that eventually lead him to his death. This fact is easily displayed by the weak physical and mental appearance that he has.
