It isn’t always easy being the oldest, they are often force to take on the parental role and have a certain level of understanding when it comes to their siblings. In Sonny’s Blues the narrator plays one of the main characters. We do not know his name nor do we know much about his personality or physical appearance. One can only assume that he is up in age as he is a high school teacher with a wife and three kids. However, we are able to draw minor details about the kind of man/ brother he is by how he acts and reacts to certain aspect of his brother’s life as well as his own.
