When I went to the Salvation Army Service Center I honestly didn’t play much into it. I thought of it as chance to go help some random people and get out of class. As soon as we got there I noticed the type of people we were going to be helping. Strangely it didn’t feel foreign the whole set up reminded me of my dad’s house. I was first assigned to stack cans and prepare them to be given away. What first hit me was that most of the items were common things I overlook when looking for something to eat. I didn’t even consider that to some families those items were a necessity. Lunch time came and while I was eating I overheard the men downstairs saying a chant.
