Imagine a school full of students who don’t care about anything. Students who don’t have any passions and aren’t motivated. If there wasn’t the “no pass, no play” policy, that would probably be the case. The no pass, no play policy is a policy that requires academic eligibility to be involved in sports, clubs, or other extracurriculars. There is a minimum grade or GPA you need to have. Students are now required to put in extra hard work and effort to be able to do what they love. They know that if they don’t meet the expectations in the classroom, then they won’t be allowed to meet them on the field. The no pass, no play policy does have some cons, but it is still a very effective policy. The no pass, no play policy has left positive effects on students all over because it makes students work harder. Students that are involved with extracurriculars are more motivated than students who are not involved. They are aware that performing well in school can be rewarding because they can do what they love to do. Being able to play a sport or …show more content…
I have been on student council since seventh grade and this is my first year serving on the executive board. I have a huge passion for it and I enjoy everything I do. However, there is a minimum GPA requirement I have to meet, and if I don’t meet that requirement then i can’t serve on student council. Having a GPA requirement allows us to have hardworking members, because their grades reflect that. That still doesn’t mean that the people that don’t meet the requirement aren’t hard working. It is sad that those students can’t experience everything that I have experienced as a student council member. Valuable life skills are taught, like being a voice for others and being a good communicator. Things every person should learn.
