Since the infamous school shooting in 1999 known as Columbine, there has been 122 deaths in school shootings in America alone. Gun violence is an increasing problem in our nation, and something needs to be done in order to prevent further violence. Banning all guns may seem like a great idea, but a more logical solution would be to make a better way to purchase guns, thus making it more difficult for criminals to get ahold of guns.
There are many different terms that are commonly used when discussing gun laws, and it is important to understand what they mean. A very well known shooting was the Las Vegas Massacre that happened October 1, 2017. According to AJC News, more than 50 people died and over 500 others were injured, which made the Las Vegas Massacre the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. History. Unfortunately, much like school shootings there is no logical way to completely eliminate mass shootings. Continuing with the idea of banning high capacity magazine and bump stocks. We also would need a more intensive background check along with more regulations when it comes to what firearms are legal and who can own what. With stricter background checks the gun salesmen know who they are selling to and whether or not they would be a responsible gun owner. They could feel more comfortable about who they are selling to. They also could feel more comfortable about who they are selling to if they are no longer selling assault rifle or semi-automatic rifles. Another option would be much like concealed carry, to require a special permit or class to own a semi-automatic or assault rifle. Creating more responsible owners would create a more responsible society, and would greatly reduce the amount of shootings throughout the
