BRIIING! The loud bell echoes through the school. Katy, a small sixth grader, frantically runs down the hallway trying to get to her class. Her first day of 6th grade was off to a rough start. First, her locker got jammed, then she couldn't find her class and now she was late. When she finally found the room and opened the door class had been going for five minutes. As Katy hesitantly stepped into the class all of her fellow students stared at her making her face turn bright red, she felt embarrassed and scared. Did you experience something like this in sixth grade? I know I did, it was my worst fear for the first few months of school. But, luckily, the transition from elementary to middle school is the biggest and most difficult school transition (next to high school going into college), and now that it's out-of-the-way I am excited for the move to high school. AVID and middle school has taught me many things, it has helped me be successful, and it will continue to help me in high school. Middle school, especially AVID, has taught me a lot of helpful things. One of the most beneficial things I've learned is how to take Cornell notes. I will continue to take notes throughout all four years of high school and even in college, but as I go along I will develop my own style so that they can help me even more. In high school they do tutorials as well, but they take them very seriously freshman and sophomore year. This will assure that I get help when I need it for homework so I can do well on tests. In AVID they will also have us check our grades to see if we need to redo anything, if I do need to then I will go to my teacher and talk to them about it. All throughout my four years of high school I will keep doing these things so I can keep my grades up and be successful to get into a good
