Then there is something that pregnant teenagers experience called the “baby blues” which is a small period of-of feeling sad, mopey, and just feeling bad and depressed in general. This is nothing to worry about since about 70-80 % of women experience these feelings after they have given birth, but for only about 10-20 % of these women do these feelings develop into postpartum depression. A recent study on around 6000 Canadian women shows that girls ranging from 15 to 19 were twice as more likely to experience symptoms of postpartum depression as compared to women aged at 25 and higher. Accordingly, a study found out that teen parents are more likely to have thoughts of suicide as compared to their peers who are virgins or are not pregnant.
