Discrimination and prejudice are both words that associate with negativity. By the book’s definition, discrimination is an act of unfair treatment directed against an individual or a group. Discrimination is an action; treating a specific group due to they identify that way. For example, before when black people in the United States were supposed to sit in the back of the bus as a result of the color of their skin. Prejudice is an attitude or prejudging, usually in a negative way. We are not born with prejudice; we learn from those around us. Humans are like sponges and we soak up whatever is around us. If we have friends that are associated with hate groups, we would be attracted to the hate group being they belonged to the hate group. We can have prejudices against people we haven’t even met. For example, I have a friend that would consonantly talk down about another person in view of the rumors that she heard. This test was described as the ability to recognize white and Asian-American faces, and images of places that are either American or Foreign in origin. My result suggested a slight automatic association for American with Asian American and foreign with European American. My attitude toward the test is that it is not prejudice, at least from my standpoint. My nationality is part Chinese, so I speculated it would be interesting what my result was going to be since it was between European and Asian. The ending result was that I associate American with Asian American and that European American was foreign. It was how I was raised; I grew up around Asians than Europeans so it would be accurate that I associate Europeans as foreign. The test was not prejudice; it is based on from different standpoints. For example, I am not prejudice against Europeans, I’m just not familiar with their
