Prometheus There once was a mythological god who was quite the deceiver, and his name was Prometheus. The name Prometheus means prudent, or foresighted. In addition to the meaning, he was the also creator and bearer of mankind. He was the god who guided the humans and supported them. Prometheus gave them many gifts, as well as stole a few, such as structure, wisdom, fire, and metalwork. The god's love for humans was immaculate. This god has many characteristics such as his family tree, deception, punishments, and myths, all of which have their own story to tell. It all started with the family tree. Prometheus was born a Titan. His parents are Iapetus and Clymene. Iapetus was also a Titan born of Gaia and Uranus. He was the god of craftsmanship. Clymene was a goddess Titan born of Oceanus and Tethys. She was the goddess of renown, fame, and infamy. He also had three brothers known as …show more content…
This god is well known for all of his tricks and gimmicks. The most notable maneuver was when Prometheus tricked Zeus. It all started when Prometheus wanted to give the humans something more than structure. He wanted to give them the gift of fire. So the god stole fire from Hephaestus and along with it, wisdom from Athena. However, Zeus did not approve of this action, so he took the fire away from the humans. Prometheus became absolutely livid. In return, Prometheus took ox meat and swaddled it in the skin of the animal. Next, he took the bones from the ox and bundled them in the fat. After he has prepared the offerings he goes up to Zeus and tells him that he must choose one. Also, Prometheus added that the one he chose will stay with the gods for eternity and the other one will be given to the humans. Zeus chose the bones wrapped in fat and realizes that he has been deceived.
