The Abortion Controversy Why are abortions immoral? If a loved one needed a lifesaving abortion would you deny her of life? Would it be immoral to save her life, but would it not also be immoral to deny her of her life when she could be saved? Imagine the emotional trauma of a woman who needs an abortion but does not necessarily want one. Protesters surrounding her as she makes her way into the clinic. They yell horrible remarks saying she is murdering her own child, and she is a murderer. They make her feel guilty for something she cannot prevent without sacrificing her own life. Abortions should be legal due to the fact that some women are unable to financially support a child, have health risks, may be a victim of rape and/or incest, and chiefly women should be allowed the right to make decisions regarding their own bodies.
The financial burden of raising a child and unsafe abortions affect everybody. Unsafe abortion can greatly affect the public healthcare system too. Doctors, operating rooms, antibiotics,

The chances of breast cancer, having a miscarriage, tubal pregnancy (pregnancy outside the womb), or infertility does not increase if a woman were to have an early abortion (Bartholomew). The suction curettage abortion does not affect a woman’s chances of becoming pregnant when she decides to have children (“Medical…”). The World Health Organization believes that unsafe abortions are one of the most preventable causes of maternal mortality. To help stop unsafe abortions there are two major options; better means of access to contraception and less restrictive abortion laws. Even if these two solutions were to become a reality health care providers and women will still need to be more educated about safe abortions and contraception (Haddad). When such problems can be prevented, why let them
