I would also refer Lisa to see a psychiatrist who can prescribe her the proper medication to go alongside the psychotherapy she will be receiving. The medication I would predict for the psychiatrist would offer the psychiatrist prescribe to Lisa would be a mood stabilizer. Usually mood stabilizers are used for those with bipolar disorder, however in the severity of Lisa’s antisocial personality disorder, this medication would be appropriate. Because of Lisa’s known characteristics of defying rules and authority, I would think the psychiatrist would prescribe a mood stabilizer that comes in chewable tablet forms so the doctors can monitor that she is actually taking it, having to show it dissolved on her mouth and she wouldn’t be able to hide it under her tongue, as she did …show more content…
People who get frustrated easily don’t have a lot of patience. These individuals are impulsive and rarely form trusting relationships, which is important for the therapeutic relationship between a therapist and client. Working with these individuals is difficult, especially if they are defiant and aren’t willing to work with the counselor in therapy. After all, the result of therapy depends a lot on the client willing to give it their best. This could be a very negative effect. Another negative effect for this treatment plan for Lisa is she could have a bad reaction to the medication. The mood stabilizer can cause some physical ailments such as nausea, upset stomach and even as serious as trouble breathing. If Lisa were to have a reaction such as these to the medication, chances are she would revue to take it. We wouldn’t know what to expect Lisa’s mood to be even with the medication to stabilize her because of how irrational her emotions
