A quinceañera is a transition in which a hispanic girl is converted from childhood to womanhood at the age of 15. Quinceañera is the spanish word for a 15 year old girl, and is why this celebration is called a quinceañera. Traditionally this party was meant for those in the upper class society. Young hispanic girls look forward for their party since they’ve been little which helps the quinceañera industry make lots of money, and can even go up to $400,000 in the US alone. It’s not as simple as it looks because it has many steps to prepare for including the months of planning ,the dances, and hiring people for the big day. The celebration of the quinceañera started a long time ago in the 1520’s when the spanish conquerors paid the aztecs a little visit that changed everything.. The story that most hispanic families believe is that the spanish attacked and took all leadership in what people now know as modern day mexico. The spanish didn’t just bring their people to this land, they also brought their foreign influences to this tradition that already existed among the Aztecs. Hair and makeup is a must for the big day, therefore she will have to hire someone to come over and do the hair and makeup on her , her mother, and grandmother . Traditionally hair is curled half up and half down and her nails should resemble off the dress or theme. The family also has to hire a videographer and photographer for during the whole special day. Since most all quinceañeras have alcohol the family would have to hire a bartender to check ID’s and a police to stand at the door. A decorator is also necessary to setup the tables and chairs and to put the seat covers with the bows on the chairs and the tables to have table clothes on them.
