I firmly believe that my siblings, my love for children, and my love for learning play a major role in my decision to become a teacher. All throughout elementary school I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I’ve always had a love for kids and oddly enough kids were always drawn to me. Not only did I love kids, but I also took pride in learning. Before I started school, my mom introduced me to an educational program called Reader Rabbit. This program allowed me to advance through elementary school seeing that I finished all the grade levels before I was in the third grade. In kindergarten, I was so advanced that I was helping my older cousin with his first grade homework. As the eldest sibling of 5, I understood that I must be advanced in everything I do in order to help my younger siblings. I understood that once they started talking they needed to learn their name and their ABC’s. However, I wouldn’t be able to teach them if I don’t know myself. Before I started school, my mother introduced me to an educational program called Reader Rabbit. I loved Reader Rabbit because it was more like a game than it was learning. I finished all grade levels by the time I was in the third grade. Once I finished this program I grew a love for reading. In the third grade I had an entire library in my room and I was reading chapter books before all the kids in my school. I took pride in how advanced I was in school and I always tried to help the other kids in my school excel as well. For example, I was a helper in the special education classes, and I made it a point to try and learn sign language so I could communicate with the children. As a child, I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up because this occupation fits me as a
