It took 14 years and over 400 men to carve what may be the one of the most breathtaking man-made sights you will ever see. Mount Rushmore stands over 60 feet tall and was designed by a Danish-American sculptor. More than 3 millions people visit the monument each year. Mount Rushmore is a monument that symbolizes many things, and each has its own meaning.
Mount Rushmore is a very large structure, and it has the ability to be that big because of its location in the middle of nowhere. Mount Rushmore is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, near Keystone. The monument is carved into one of the giant mountains that is part of the hills. There are four presidents carved into the mountain: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. Each face of the president is around 60 feet tall, while the entire monument being around 500 feet tall. The elevation from the top of the mountain is about 5,725 feet. Even though Mount Rushmore is very big, it has a lot of history about it.
