The United States victory in the Revolutionary War was largely influenced by political, diplomatic, and military factors. Without these factors we may still be under British rule. Below are how these factors influenced the United States victory in the Revolutionary War.
There were many political factors that influenced the outcome of the war. Starting with Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death” speech. On March 23, 1775 Patrick Henry delivered his famous speech which did two things. The speech swayed delegates, it also argued that war with England was unavoidable. Another political factor in the United States victory was the Second Continental Congress decision to appoint George Washington to head the army. Washington brought order to the formally disorganized army. While Washington personally lost more battles than he won he instilled hope into the colonist. The last political that I will discuss is Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense”. In Paine’s pamphlet published on January 10, 1776 he advocates separating form England. Paine’s moral and political arguments urged common people to fight for their independence. These are just three of the political factors that influenced the American victory in the Revolution.

Starting with the Olive Branch Petition. This petition was the colonist last ditch effort to avoid a full-blown war with England. When the petition was denied the colonist knew they had no choice. They had to pick up arms and fight. Secondly the French Alliance of 1778 drastically influenced the American victory. The French gave the American much need supplies like firearms, gunpowder, food, and even artillery. Lastly the Treaty of Paris which ended the war. The Treaty of Paris gave the Americans independence. Without these Diplomatic factors we could quite possibly still be under British
