The narrative argument by Nikole Hanna-Jones in the radio program “562-The Problem We All Live With’” is presented in a way that will make the listeners believe she argues her point effectively. The story is engulfed in pathos along with having a tone that makes the audience relax and listen to her points of view without hinting anger. The tone of Hanna-Jones is serious and fair-minded, but it can come off as a bit misleading when talking about a hypersensitive subject based on her personal experiences with integration. With this being said, it can make the audience feel like her heart is not in to the subject matter at hand. Once the listeners realize that she was a part of the integration process as a child and has been dealing with the heart break of being black in white America’s education system; the audience will hear her tone in a different light. Her tone is filled with forced complacency and the disappointment of knowing nothing will change, like it should. “I mean, you could take these conversations, and go from district to district to district, and you will always hear the same things,” (Hanna-Jones) stated in a manner that resembles the wonderful tactic of evasion used by the districts she encountered. As for Nikole Hanna-Jones, her attempts seem to be effortless while arguing her stance on integration. No matter what class you are in or course of study you have selected, her use of rhetoric will be a perfect guideline on how to be effective on many levels.
