The topic that I choose to do for my assignment was robotic nurse assistants. Robotic nurse assistants are being created with the intention of treating patients more effectively than humans. The reason why I choose this topic is because the idea of using robots as nurses intrigued me, as it is something that is not developed yet. Another reason as to why I decided to choose this topic is because I've always read books or seen on tv about robots taking jobs from humans, therefore, the idea of this actually becoming a reality interested me, because it is something that I did not expect to occur.

Robotic nurse assistants come in different types, such as, lifting robots, Stan the man and Actrold F. Lifting robot is a type of robot that is designed to lift or move patients from one location to the next. An example of a lifting robot would be the robot called Riba, this stands for Robot for interactive body assistance. (show picture or Riba) Riba was created in Japan, and is one of the most successful robot nurse assistant currently. Riba is designed to look like a bear, hence it was named robobear. The reason riba was designed to resemble a bear is so that patients feel comfortable while being taken care of by the robot. Riba has strong arms and advanced tactile sensors that prevent slipping from occurring. Currently, Riba can only lift a person weighing a maximum of 135 pounds, however, eventually, riba will be able to lift even more. (show picture of stan the man). Stan the man is another type of robot nurse, and it is used to train nurses and health professionals. The robot is designed to respond to various treatments applied by the trainee nurse. The last type of robot is Actrold F, and it is actually the opposite of the robobear. While the robobear is meant to look like a cute cartoon type of character, Actrold F is designed to resemble a human.
