In his play Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare uses conflict to define Romeo as a tragic hero by uncertainty, injudicious, and undecided. In many of Shakespeare’s plays are categorized as tragedies. In his plays a tragedy is known for ending sorrowful due to the fall of the main character. For a play to be a tragedy, there has to be a tragic hero; Romeo is the tragic hero. The topic of tragedy plays a big part in the play Romeo and Juliet. By examining Romeo’s tragic blemish, his noble birth, his series of poor settlements, the deterioration of Romeo that extends past himself, it is apparent that Romeo and Juliet is systematized as a tragedy. The spectators can quickly recognize Romeo’s weakness of falling in love too quickly and extensive when he fails to remember about his feelings for Rosaline and focus on Juliet. Juliet too perceives that Romeo’s love for her was too quick when she said : “It is too rash, too undvis’d, too sudden.” (2.2.117-118). Having a tragic blemish could be signaling the fall of the tragic hero. Rome being the play’s tragic hero makes a sequence of bad decisions. If Romeo did not attend the party he wouldn't have been introduced to Juliet. It was nonessential for Romeo to try to prevent the fight between Tybalt and Mercutio. If Romeo did not try to terminate the fight, Mercutio would not have died, and the fight in the middle of Romeo and Tybalt would not have prevailed.
