The San Joaquin River Restoration Isn’t All Good The San Joaquin River is one of the longest rivers in California and has been around for centuries. However, what once was a full river with thriving salmon and wildlife, was transformed over the years into a dry area with little to no wildlife. Luckily, there have been efforts to restore the river. In 2009, the Bureau of Reclamation began to release water from Friant Dam in an effort to restore parts of the San Joaquin RIver, and in 2014 Restoration Flows began - but it isn’t as marvelous as it sounds. Adding more water to the San Joaquin River sounds easy. All you would need to do is simply put water in it, a few fish and other animals, and everything will be back to the way it was
