After watching the Shadow of Hate I experienced mixed emotions of hatred and sorrow for our national history. In fact, within the first couple of minutes of the film I experienced a sense of discomfort and uneasiness knowing where self-hate and discrimination came from, especially after hearing the statement on Europeans believing “they had the God given right to be free, but not towards others”.
Due to this statement alone, it brings out the unequal empowerment Europeans encompassed throughout time by exposing and mistreating others who were not apart of their cultural.
