Richard Cory and Gatsby had many things in common they also had many things that were not in common. Gatsby was a man who grew up without the silver spoon, he was poor, he began to fall in love with a women named daisy, and daisy left Gatsby because he did not have any money. Gatsby moved back to New York with the intention on getting daisy back. “He spends many nights staring at the green light at the end of her dock, across the bay from his mansion.” Gatsby did not throw parties for his own enjoyment, he threw them to show daisy. “Gatsby’s extravagant lifestyle and wild parties are simply an attempt to impress Daisy.” …show more content…
Richard Cory was an extremely rich man, he was idolized by everyone in town, and he was the end vision for all. “Whenever Richard Cory went down town, we people on the pavement looked at him: He was a gentleman from sole to crown, Clean favored, and imperially slim.” Richard Cory was extremely rich, he wanted for nothing. “And he was rich—yes, richer than a king—and admirably schooled in every grace”. But could his money save him? It could not save Gatsby.

Richard Cory was at his home and “one calm summer night, went home and put a bullet through his head. “Both Richard Cory and Gatsby hand endless amounts of money. But it could not save either of them from meeting the bitter end. Richard Cory did however have a different road to his end. Richard was always rich as far back as people can remember. Gatsby was once a poor man who had to rise up. Gatsby’s life was also taken by another man due to misleading information. Richard Cory took his own life.
Both these stories still both answer the theme which is “Money does not make you untouchable.” Which is totally true, both these men had endless amounts of money and it could not protect
