Spellbound Analysis

My view of Americans was influenced in many positive ways by watching “Spellbound”. I found out that we are not just caring but patient. In “Spellbound” the contestant’s family members would help them in whatever ways they can. Neil’s Mother said “If I could help him pull his clothes out and make sure they are ready for him when he takes a shower and he can save 2 minutes.” (Insert citation) These two minutes that his mother is trying to save him can add up to a greater amount and give him more time to study. This is a great example of patience. An example of caring is when the police officer bought a starving child lunch. Americans are not just loving but perseverant. Angela’s father is a great example of perseverance. Here he says “I paid a coyote five hundred dollars.” (Insert citation) A coyote is a person who illegally crosses the border of Mexico and the U.S. If he didn't cross that border, Angela may never have had a chance to go to the bee or even a good school. An example of loving is between these two sisters. They were crossing the street and a car was speeding toward them. The older sister had two choices: save herself or her sister. The previous year, Nuper was eliminated in the third round. Most people would have quit but Nuper did the opposite. She said “This year I came back with a lot more determination.” (Insert citation) Just being on stage is hard, but to get eliminated on T.V. and have the courage to come back. That takes a lot of determination. An amazing example of bravery was during the Newtown shooting. A teacher heard the gunshots and hid her students in classroom closets. When the shooter reached the classroom, he asked her where the children were. She said they were in the gym. The shooter killed her and left. She sacrificed her life for the lives of her
