At first glance, both the Statue of Memi and Sabu and the Seated Statue of Gudea have various similarities and observations. Both are sculptures, both use some form of stone as the medium, both are ancient and date within 2000 B.C., and both scriptures represent humans during their time and region. I am unsure of the context of these sculptures. I don’t know weather the artist chose to depict a person during their time in a general sense, or if the artist was commissioned by a client to represent his likeness in the form of the sculpture. When take a deeper look at both sculptures, the contrast between them becomes a little more evident.
