Eckhart Tolle once stated, “If you had not suffered as you have, there would be no depth to you as a human being, no humility, no compassion.” In other words, until an individual doesn’t suffer they don’t realize the meaning of a human being and its significance. We as individuals don’t grow as learners we must suffer, in order to learn and to have sensitivity. In the novel, Night by Elie Wiesel is a great example of how suffering is necessary for emotional and spiritual growth, as Elie Wiesel discusses his experience in a concentration camp in Auschwitz and Buchenwald. His experiences with his father, Shlomo Wiesel who is a respected Jewish Community leader in Sighet in the German Camps are described throughout the novel. This novel was written …show more content…
An individual can stop and event from occurring it occurs naturally an always leave a memory behind whether it is good or bad. In the article, “Can Suffering make us Stronger” by Steven Taylor stresses out about the traumas and turmoil’s in our life, but we don’t realize how it has a new value in it. According to the article, it states, “In Tedeschi and Calhoun’s terms, they experienced ‘positive life changes.’ They gained a new inner strength, and discovered skills and abilities they never knew they possessed. They became more confident and appreciative of life, particularly of the ‘small things’ that they used to take for granted.” (Taylor, para. 3). This quote conveys as we face trauma, we must realize that in order to come over it, we have to have the confidence and attitude. As we are able to overcome the situation we realize that we have a new inner strength and growth in us, in which we start to appreciate the challenges. Also, in the article, it states, “After this, they went through a phase of spiritual searching, trying to make sense of what had happened to them, and find new values. And finally, once they had found new spiritual principles to live by, they entered a phase of ‘spiritual integration’, when they applied these new principles.” (Taylor, para. 4). This quote portrays the new values and growth found in the trauma. As individuals are able to overcome the trauma, new principals are used in which they are deepened. The values of life become increased as it provides an opportunity to deepen. Our belief spiritually increases as we face and overcome
