In the story “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh”, by Ray Bradbury, the boy, Joby, regrets his decision to runaway from home to join the military. The author of this story shows many examples of symbolism. Some of the examples of symbolism that Ray Bradbury uses when the general says that Joby is the second in command above everyone, when he says that they should turn trail and train more, and when the general said, “here's a soldier crying before the fight.”
