Although the Crusades began well over 1000 years ago, much of what is happening in our world today can be compared to what took place in the Crusades. As a matter of fact, Israel (where Jerusalem is located) has been fought over by the Christians and the Muslims on and off for the past 100 years. Muslims believe that Israel rightfully belongs to them, while Christians also believe that the land is theirs. Battles similar to the Crusades have taken place over the conflict of ownership to Israel. Another similarity between the Crusades and modern-day events are fighting tactics. One example or support of this claim is the conflicts and tensions rising with the muslim terrorist group ISIS and Christians around the world. ISIS has been seen capturing and murdering Christians and other enemies. In the Crusades, the same would be done in battles, but more so by the Christians. The Crusades were ruthless, and that is exactly the same thing that is happening here in the modern day. WWII centered around the effort of world domination and the annihilation of another religious group, the Jews. Hitler spared no feelings to show his, to put it nicely, dislike for the Jews. While the Crusades were devastating, the two sides had a good cause to fight for. Each believed the land to be sacred and holy, and they wanted to live in the place they held so dear. Methods of deciding who rightfully owned this land, though, is where everything gets a little less point and blank. The argument of who did the most right and who did the most wrong becomes overrun with supporting facts from each side, but nothing that’s too concrete if you’re just going off factual evidence; It is a battle of religious differences, in a sense, that can only be decided so far until you have to face the religious side of
