The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created in response to the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. The DHS combined twenty-two Federal organizations as part of a national endeavor to protect and prevent attacks on the United States. The vision of the DHS is “to ensure a homeland that is safe, secure, and resilient against terrorism and other hazards.” (DHS, 2017) The DHS uses security, resilience, customs and exchange as the main concepts for the foundation to achieve their vision (DHS, 2017). Additionally, they have five main core missions including preventing terrorism and enhancing security, securing and managing U.S. borders, enforcing and administering immigration laws, safeguarding and securing cyberspace
