In a TED talk called “The Sexy Lie,” Caroline Heldman, an Associate Professor of Politics at Occidental College in Los Angeles, compellingly illustrates the objectification of women in our society. She argues against two common ideologies about advertisement. First, adds with sexy women in their center are not selling because they are sexually appealing to men, their success comes from the object-subject dichotomy in our society.
