The penny, the one cent piece that continues to jingle in our pockets today, and for what reason? The penny has no tangible value anymore, and is a waste of money to make. With most of the debate centered on changing the faces of the bills that line the inside of our wallets, We should turn and evaluate the penny instead.
To make a penny it cost roughly 1.23 cents each, making each penny worth essentially nothing. A possible solution for this penny problem could be to make the penny out of something cheaper to lower the cost of manufacturing the penny, but as of the 2014 Biennial Report to the Congress from the Treasury, they said “There are no alternative metal compositions that reduce the manufacturing unit cost of the penny below its face
