THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH
In the book “The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster, the character milo changed multiple times throughout the book. Some examples of this are when Milo makes his very first friend Tock; He starts to think for the first time in the car. When Milo and Tock are in the dungeon, Milo is interested in the Which’s stories. Finally, when Milo complains to the Terrible Trivium that the work they were doing was not worthwhile. These are only a few of the ways milo has changed throughout the book. He seems to be a completely different person by the end of the book. “‘Keep thinking,’ scolded the watchdog. 70. Milo shows he is curious to hear the Which’s story. In comparison to the beginning of the book, Milo wasn't curious to hear or learn anything; He would always long to be somewhere he wasn’t. Now the character Milo continues to be interested in the women's stories. He keeps asking the Which to tell him another story and is willing to help her. Before, Milo would never volunteer to help anyone for any cause. This is another noticeable change in Milo’s character as he becomes more and more fond of what he is doing at the time. “‘But it hardly seems worthwhile,’ said Milo softy.” P. 212. Milo is worried about how important the job he’s doing is. He thinks that the work then are doing is useless and not worthwhile. In the beginning of the story, Milo wouldn’t care why he was doing something, because he didn’t know if there was anything better to do. But currently in the story, Milo feels like he could be doing multiple things that are a lot more important and worthwhile. He want to be doing something important for the first time in his life. This is also another big change in Milo’s character in this
