The term “Renaissance,” meaning “rebirth,” is used by artists and scholars to describe the scholarly and cultural achievements of Europeans from the fourteenth through the sixteenth centuries. This time period was marked by a very conscious awareness that people were living in a new age. During the Hellenistic Era Artists and scholars rejected the scholarships and religious thought of the middle ages because to them it was considered to be the Dark Age where nothing original or creative had happened.
In modernizing the past, the Renaissance created a rebirth of classical learning and rediscovery which included that of human spirit and creativity. The modern Italian spirit was produced through a combination of various elements, among which
