I am just a kid growing up in Franklin, Tennessee idolizing star basketball players such as Chris Bosh, Lebron James, and D-Wade, while I watch the Tennessee Lady Vols and Miami Heat. Back in 2013 I knew the entire roster and coaching staff of the Miami Heat. I loved the coaches for their ability to command the court and deal with the egos of superstars. Something that originally fascinated me about Pat was how she was able to motivate her players while also battling Alzheimer's. She maintained on the top of the women's basketball world for almost four decades. For most of her coaching career she was coaching for my personal favorite team the Tennessee Volunteers. She should get a heart.'Little did they know. they are the tattoos” (Summitt). This clearly shows the unparalleled impact she had on her players and vise versa. She tells a story about how once upon a time she heard her players talking about her getting a tattoo. One girl says ask what type of tattoo should she get. Next another girl chimes in saying she should get a tattoo of a heart. Pat later says in her book that truly they were the tattoos. As we all know tattoos leave an everlasting mark on whoever decides to get one. This is what she meant by this when she said they were the tattoos. She has been known to be extremely passionate and caring for her players that they leave an eternal mark on her soul. Clearly she leaves the same style mark on her players as the first thing anyone suggested was a heart tattoo. The heart is the symbol for love and caring, which is what she did for her players. she shaped them into respectful, honest, moral, phenomenal athletes. She also brought a great deal of attention to the women’s basketball world. She contributed greatly to the equality of opportunities to women and men in colleges. She has made incredible contributions to Alzheimer’s awareness, coaching, and gender
