The NCO corps makes up thirty two percent of the population of the Army and is the second pillar of the organization. Their sole existence is mission accomplishment. For this reason, the responsibilities of the NCO are immense. To the point, they are responsible with carrying out the orders of the President, the orders of the officers appointed over them and the orders of the Senior NCOs appointed over them. NCOs are considered the backbone of the organization. Along with responsibilities; the Army has one hundred and eighty different military occupational specialties for the NCOs and enlisted Soldiers, such as Infantry, Engineering, Medical, Transportation, Logistics, and Quartermaster.
