Has one ever questioned the value of women to men throughout time? The Tempest, Shakespeare's tragicomedy provides a solid viewpoint of a man's way of thinking back in the 1600s. The time period in which this book was written depicts a great deal of societal views on women including how they were portrayed as objects, their “lack” of ability to represent independent figures, and being stripped of having any say in major decisions; for example, marriage.
