In the novel, Time Enough For Drums by Ann Rinaldi there are many conflicts and resolutions. This novel is about a girl named Jemima Emerson and a Solder / Spy named John Reid. Mosty about this novel is jemima and her family try and battle through the revolutionary war. The novel shows the life of Jemima Emerson and how her and John Reid go through torturing to get Jemima to be more classy and proper. Jemima Emerson is one of the main characters from this novel. She acts sassy because she disagrees with Lucy and John Reid mostly with attitude and disrespect. In the novel as John Reid was speaking to Dan, Jemima and Lucy were disagreeing and John Reid heard them and said; “Jem for heaven's sake show some consideration to your mother” (Rinaldi 67). The reason John Reid said that is because Jemima was being disrespectful and did not want to cursy when her mother was walking down the stairs. Finally with Jemima being sassy and stubborn most of the time she can also be trustworthy. She is considered trustworthy because she runs the shop while mother is at the Moore's house recovering. She also finds a secret about John Reid and once he found her reading it he was confused. John Reid was confused why she was going through his and once he saw what she was reading he said,”Do not tell anyone Jemima”(Rinaldi 140-152).The secret that Jemima found was that John Reid was a spy. He is a spy that goes to war like a soilder. She has took his word and did not tell anyone that he is a spy. Jemima Emerson is a character from this novel and she can sometimes be stubborn, sassy, and trustworthy. As the novel progresses, we learn how Jemima’s role plays out as a character in the novel. Near the end of the novel there is more romance and
