Imagine the world with kids who were oblivious to the truth about racism and segregation. In a society where history repeats itself, today’s youth need to sympathize that they need to learn from their progenitor’s omissions, so that this history doesn't repeat itself with possibly a horrific outcome. To Kill A Mockingbird should not under any circumstances be banned. Moreover, To Kill A Mockingbird teaches many scruples that people of any age should apprehend and live according to. They illustrate some of the characteristics people in society need to have. One of the important morals To Kill A Mockingbird teaches is to stand up for what people believe in for the greater benefit. “It is when you’re licked before you begin, but when you begin and stand for it no matter what and you shall not waver your opinion that you find true peace and prosperity. (Harper Lee “Atticus Finch”, Chapter 11). This phrase was derived from Atticus to his offspring in the matter of Tom Robinson’s case, a black man whom no one else would support. He believed that no matter what everyone was proportionate, so he defended Tom. America needs to grasp concepts from people like this. What they didn’t notice was that the words other than “Negro” are a child or an adult that is told not to speak like that. For example, when Scout and Jem are talking about from then on they were going to cuss and there was not anything Atticus could do about it, he answered: “Adult men should not cuss and little ladies certainly use the Lord’s name in vain in my home or any other in this whole town of Maycomb.” This shows how Atticus disliked the use of cuss words and was against them. He feels strongly about them and doesn’t like the use of them. Society needs to learn and take away from this
