A girl, Devil's Arithmetic, and a boy, Touching Spirit Bear, go through Jurassic challenges while trying to redeem themselves. Touching Spirit Bear is a novel about a boy struggling to control his anger and The Devil's Arithmetic is about a girl who goes back into the past to understand what her family went through during the holocaust. While the main characters of Touching Spirit Bear and the Devil’s Arithmetic go through different conflicts they have similar internal and external challenges.
Chaya and Cole are two different characters, but they are also similar in many ways. One way is they are both in an internal fight with themselves. In Touching Spirit Bear Cole has to learn to control his anger. To do so, he must walk miles and up a hill
