As an analyst for this 500 bed teaching hospital after careful review of all the data that has been outlined I would first approach the situation by researching what is causing the alarming high rate of infection. Then I would come up what a plan that will aid in reducing as well as completely stop the spread of this infection that has taken place within the last twelve months of the teaching hospital. An infection may cause no symptoms and be subclinical, or it may cause symptoms and be clinically apparent. Which include infections that patients bring into the facility and spread to healthcare workers and others, infections associated with devices, procedures, or environments to which patients are exposed during their treatment in facility, or transmitted to the patients from sick or infected healthcare workers in the facility (Longest and Darr p. 402). However transmission of diseases in the healthcare facility is not intended by anyone. But the data shows that disease continues to spread in facilities due to lack of compliance with best practices. For an example for years the compliance rate of healthcare workers taking the seasonal flu vaccine was only about 40%. Therefore because the flu virus can spread while an individual is asymptomatic, many healthcare facilities are making it mandatory for healthcare workers to get the flu vaccination (Longest and Darr p. 402). However some healthcare
