Walter Elias “Walt” Disney was one of the best cartoonist, animator, voice actor, and producers of his time. With a genre of realistic and animated movies, short films, and shows, Disney had almost the same message in whatever he created. That message being: inner beauty is far greater than outer beauty. An outstanding cultural icon and figure in the American Animation industry, he could add magic to anything. From the creation of the loveable character Mickey Mouse to the realistic movie “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, magic has always been in the Disney productions. In this rationale, I’m going to be talking about a specific genre of Disney movies: Princess’. To compare a few “Beauty and the Beast” has a mirror just like “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” of course the damsel in distress who is beautiful and kind hearted, Belle could sing like most of the princesses, the prince almost lost his princess, whether it was his fault or someone else’s, the movie was originated in a foreign country, and she was well liked. Unlike most princes, Beast put a new spin for the gentleman aspect of Disney. He may have been a handsome lad in the beginning, but on the inside his heart was stone cold. Instead of taking the approach of showing inner beauty is the way to go in the princesses, Disney decided to do a gender role exchange. This is not very common with Disney, 9/10 the damsel is in distress, mentally, physical, or both, however, in this film, the male protagonist is the one in distress with the female protagonist, but he is in more hot water than she is.
