Andrew Jackson was not justified in making the decision to remove the Indians from their land. According to the article, the Supreme Court told Jackson that he could not remove the Indians, but he did it anyway. Lastly, the video says that the Indian Tribes had the right to the land and they can’t take it away from them. Some say he did the right thing by removing the Indians, but was it really the right choice? Andrew Jackson was most definitely not justified in making the Indian Removal Act. The first reason why Andrew Jackson was not justified is that the Indians had the right to the land. The video says that the Cherokees won the court case and the treaty they made was valid. The article states that Andrew Jackson did not listen to the Supreme Court. He forced the Indians out of their land, even though the Court said the Cherokees won the case, Jackson wanted them gone. The man in the video says, “The Indians were entitled to the land.”. This means that it was the Indians’ land and Jackson could not force them out for farming or businesses. …show more content…
Andrew Jackson bypassed the treaty and completely forced the Indians out of the land that they were entitled to. The video infers that he disobeyed the Supreme Court and kicked the Indians out anyway. This was unconstitutional. He should have been impeached, right then and there. The video refers to the fact that Jackson showed great disrespect to the Supreme Court. He also was contempt towards the constitution.
