Ladies and gentlemen of the Jury, today we, the prosecuting team, are here to show you that Brutus is guilty on the account of leading the conspiracy that lead to the deterioration of Rome. Brutus is said to be a noble man with noble intentions. In fact, many considered him to be the noblest Roman of all. However, it was Brutus who lead to the deterioration of Rome. It was Brutus, who rallied an army against his own country. It was Brutus, who stabbed and bathed his hands in the blood of Caesar. His noble intentions were short lived as he was irrational and careless. His reckless nature lead to the ultimate price; the decline of Rome and the cost of the lives of one hundred senators. Such is proven by the outrage of the Roman people, in Act 3 Scene 3 as they exclaim, ”Go fetch fire / Pluck down the benches / Pluck down forms, windows, anything” (3.3.271-274). …show more content…
Some may argue that he was tricked into the conspiracy by the forged letters. However, it was he that deceived himself. Brutus did not check the validity of the letters that were sent to him, nor did he question the aftermath of the conspiracy. If one is to bring improvement to a situation, they themselves must possess the ability to fully understand and investigate the problem. It is clear Brutus did not achieve this, as he failed to satisfy the raging commoners of Rome.
