Back in the day when Russia was under Tsar Regime Rule the workers were treated as dogs and worked their butts off in the factories to make Russia what it was. When they started to go on strike against the way they were being treated is when the Russian REvolution started. There were so many of them on strike that they could have overthrown the government and taken control of the industries and got what they wanted. But Vladimir Lenin and Karl Marx knew that one side have to win so why not try to organize the strikes and make them more powerful and meaningful.

The only limit on Tsar's power was the pure Vastness of Russia and could not control the people of far away towns.
After the Russian Revolution in 1917, a Civil War broke out in Russia between Vladimir Lenin on the Red side (Communists), and the Whites (Nationalists, Conservatives, Imperialists and other anti-Bolshevik groups). When the dust settled the Reds had one and ended the 400 years of Romanov Rule. And an estimated cost of 15 million lives and billions of rubles. They established the Soviet Union in 1922. Also, the Bolshevik government had taken land from the Tsar and the nobles and given it to the peasants, and the civil war was supported by those landlords who had lost their land.
The role of the Workers in the Russian Revolution was that they went on strike for better working conditions. At one point with the few million Workers, they had held the country in their hands. They had asked almost impossible demands that the Government could not provide but they established shorter working hours and freedom of assembly and press. The role of the capitalists was to be prepared to accept any armed reactionary, force to defeat the workers. The counter revolution resulted in 15,000 killed, 20,000 wounded, and 70,000 imprisoned. With that going on it was clear that someone had to take charge on both sides of the Revolution, With Lenin on the Government side and Marxist on the workers
