One should be grateful for what he has and to not take anything for granted. In the vivacious passage, The Monkey's Paw, by W.W Jacobs he expresses how a desire for frivolous wishes comes with consequences that can jeopardize one's life. In this hysterical story, the White family accepted the talisman and it primarily destroys the family. After receiving the talisman the family's dynamics is forever changed. In the story “The Monkey's Paw” the parents are in a conflict and are not speaking to each other until the mother finds an idea. This short story demonstrates a desire for necessary wishes comes with a repercussion that is not assured. And Mrs. White lost his life. One particular night Mr. White was dreaming about his son and in the dream Mr. White and Herbert was having a conversation. “Come back,” he said tenderly. “You will be cold”......“The sounds of his sobs died away on his ears. The bed was warm, and his eyes heavy with sleep. He dozed fitfully, and then slept until a sudden wild cry from his wife awoke him with a start.” Mr. White was thinking about his son until he's awaken by his wife Screaming “The Paw!” she cried wildly. “The Monkey's Paw!” Although, Mr. White was having a dream Mrs. White was trying to figure out a way to bring her son back whom she loved dearly. In The text it states, “the other wishes, she replied rapidly. “We've only had one.” “Was not that enough” said Mr. White....“Go down and get it quickly and wish our boy alive again. Initially Mrs. White wanted her son back and couldn't live without him so she thought about the “PAW” and the other two wishes they had left. “Go get it and wish” cried his wife, quivering with excitement.....“The old man turned and regarded her, and his voice shook. “He has been dead for ten days, and besides he - I would not tell you else, but – I could only recognize him by his clothing.” Furthermore Mr. white was so afraid to wish there son back alive because like he said he had been dead for ten whole days and wouldn't probably look the same. He didn't want his wife or himself to see their son looking the way he would if their son raised from the dead. Although Mr. White had a fear of his son being raised from the dead he made the wish. For an example the story states, “He raised his hand. “I wish my son alive again.” As they sat their waiting to see if their wish was going to come true a sudden knock was repeated over and over again. “What's that?” cried the old woman, starting up. “A rat” said the old man in shaking tones. - “ a rat.
