In the 1970’s women’s movement was making large steps for women in society. Women were finally able to gain credit in their name, not just their husbands; if a woman was not married she still had the right to receive birth control; women started serving on juries; and help wanted ads were posted for both sexes. With the Supreme Court ruling in the Roe v. Wade in 1973, abortion became legal for women. Being educated, women were becoming lawyers and more women started serving in the military. Americans became disappointed with government and presidential leaders, because of finding out about incidences like Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal and the information government tries to cover up.
