President Lincoln had a Domestic Policy, which was allowing poor people to move from the East to obtain land in the West. His Domestic Policy included support from the Homestead Act. This was enacted in 1862 during the Civil War, it provided that any adult or intended citizen, who had never borne arms against the U.S. government could claim one hundred-sixty acres of land surveyed by the government. Once people owned the land they were required to “improve” the land by building a dwelling and cultivated land. When five years have passed the original filer was entitled to the property, free and clear, except for a small registration fee. Lincoln had a ten percent plan, it said that a southern state could be readmitted into the union, but ten percent of the voters swore to an oath of allegiance to the Union. Abraham Lincoln was not a very well liked president, but he new how to get people to listen to him. He would say things that would make the people have to think for a while before they were getting full understanding of what was being sad. People thought of Lincoln as weak, wishy-washy, disgusting in manner and having made the U.S. a world laughing stock. Lincoln pushed people and made people very upset. The people liked Lincoln in November and then when he started changing things and doing his own thing, he started to make people upset and dislike him a lot.
