After reviewing documents of Jackson’s presidency, I believe that Andrew Jackson was an autocrat. Although, according to a document by Thomas Bailey and David Kennedy, Jackson claimed that he was a democrat which helped gain supporters.
In a Spoils System statue of Andrew Jackson, it showed him with money and riding a pig, revealing that Jackson wasn’t a good citizen and that he only cared about his own wealth and power. Also, on December 8, 1829 in a letter to Congress, Jackson claimed, that for benefits for the country he shall extend his term as president. He states that he can accomplish more and is biased against men who are not qualified to be in office. Jackson appears selfish and thinks that he is the best choice for office. In addition, in a document by Robert Remini, it states that Jackson wished to appoint a criminal. Van Buren gave him a warning which was dismissed because Jackson was biased for his early supporters. As a result, Jackson was known as a fool when he appointed a collector of the Port of New York who stole the money. Which shows that Jackson dismisses the ideas of others and wished to be the main power when handling situations.

In the “Memorial of the Cherokee Nation”, the Indians explained the devastating facts about why they wouldn’t survive on different territory including, people who live there speak a different language, they wouldn’t be living on their childhood grounds, and that they shouldn’t have their rights taken away without a distinct reason of an
