Who would you blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet? In the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet there were many people who could have caused the death of Romeo and Juliet. Some might blame it one both of their parents, Juliet and the Friar, but, Romeo was one that stood out. Romeo was one that should be blamed because he also caused the deaths of Mercutio, Tybalt, and Paris. Another reason Romeo should be blamed is for not thinking things out straight and rushing everything with Juliet. Finally, Romeo should be blamed because he went to someone to get a poison from Apothecary to end his life after Juliet’s death.

Juliet decided to take a sleeping potion so she wouldn’t have to end up marrying Paris. Friar says to Juliet, “ Let not the nurse lie with thee in thy chamber. Take thou vial, begin then in bed,...”( Shakespeare 453). After Romeo found out Juliet was “dead” Romeo decided to end his life and wanted to be wit his only love up in heaven. Romeo had convinced the Apothecary to give him the poison and Romeo had said, “...worse poison to men’s souls, Doing more murder in this loathsome world, Than these poor compounds that thou mayst not sell”( Shakespeare 469).
Some might not agree that Romeo was responsible causing all the troubles Juliet and him went through. Another person to blame for all the trouble would be the Friar. Juliet went to the Friar for help when she never knew the Friar. The Friar gives Juliet a sleeping potion that makes it seem like she is “dead”. “ Let not the nurse lie with thee in thy chamber. Take thou vial, begin then in bed,...”( Shakespeare 453). In other words the Juliet doesn’t know the Friar and doesn’t know if he wanted to kill her or if the letter to Romeo never even got to
